Artist Statement

Linyu Wang is a fantasy realism artist creating a quiet world between reality and myth.

Through oil painting, she explores the connection between mythical creatures, nature, and human imagination.

Before focusing on her personal artistic practice, she worked in the film and game industry as a concept artist, developing skills in visual storytelling and world building.

Since 2024, she has been creating independent works from Shanghai, China, continuously expanding her own fantasy world through original paintings.

Her works are inspired by Eastern mythology, natural landscapes, and the mysterious space between the imagined and the real.

Artist Biography

Linyu Wang, born in China in 1996, is a Shanghai-based painter and concept artist whose work explores the intersection of Eastern mythology, nature, and imagination. Through her paintings, she seeks to portray the quiet spaces that exist between reality and fantasy.

Having practiced art since childhood, Linyu Wang has dedicated over 17 years to her artistic journey. Growing up in a family deeply influenced by traditional Chinese culture, her early experiences shaped her understanding that external environments often reflect the inner state of human beings.

She believes that every form of life has its own unique way of existing, and that true balance does not come from control or dominance, but from harmony with oneself, nature, and the surrounding world.

Her artistic philosophy is also inspired by the Eastern concept of “the value of what exists beyond function” — the idea that not everything needs a clear purpose or practical meaning to hold value. Some things are meaningful simply because they exist.

Through quiet landscapes and mythical beings, Linyu Wang creates a world beyond urgency and competition, inviting viewers to experience a sense of peace, stability, and connection.
